Replying the request from the National Tokyo Observatory in 1975,
Sokkisha Co. LTD had developed the fully automatic measuring device
which had got the capability to determine the coordinates of the metal
surface of the radio telescope with diameter of 45 m with 1 mm accuracy.
Subsequently in 1980 By the collaboration partnership with Carl Zeiss
We also developed the precision measurement system for large structures
using two ELTA2s. However it was not well accepted in the market due to
the price too expensive.
At that time, the Shipbuilders' Association of Japan also requested us
to develop the precision coordinate measurement EDM Rangefinder device
for the shipboards by using the non reflecting prism and we succeeded
in developing the device by using a reflective sheet after lots of hard work.
Based on that we completed to develop the new device called NET launched
to the market for the general public use.
This should be called the precision total station, and we named it MONMOS.
The main market was tunnel construction sites, large structural deformations,
industrial measurement sites, etc.
It took about 20 years from the initial development model to the final
machine device, but the final device became the fully Automatic Total Station
with the automatic collimation function.
This could be mensioned to be the forerunner of the current (2021) TLS Model device.

In order to obtain coordinate accuracy, the special optical system was developed
to over come the problems from the different angle of the reflective sheet of
the target but keep distance high accuracy.

With the newly developed rangefinder with absolute encoder technology,

Both models were equipped with automatic tracking and collimation functions,
and the wireless communication by Bluetooth enables remote control and
